Macerata honors former UN official Andrea Angeli

Funeral services were held at the Santa Croce church in Macerata for Andrea Angeli, a former United Nations official who spent his career working in global crisis zones and humanitarian emergencies.

Emanuele Tacconi, a fellow UN official and longtime colleague who has recently been working in Gaza City, described the loss as a significant blow. The two men shared a professional and personal bond rooted in their shared origins from the Marche region and their work in conflict areas such as Afghanistan.

Tacconi revealed that he and Angeli had planned a joint project to share their international experiences with young people and students through school visits and meetings. This collaborative goal was intended to communicate the realities of their global work to future generations, a pact that has now been interrupted by Angeli's sudden passing.
