Macerata hosts Expositio Mundi art exhibition

The Expositio Mundi exhibition is currently being held across three historical sites in Macerata, Italy: Palazzo Buonaccorsi, the Sferisterio, and the Biblioteca Mozzi Borgetti. Curated by Lorenzo Benedetti and Giuliana Pascucci, the project explores the evolving meaning of how art is displayed and the dialogue established between works and the public.

Featuring international artists, the exhibition includes site-specific works and pieces that redefine exhibition as a critical practice. Notable contributors include Giulio Paolini and Joseph Beuys, whose works encourage direct visitor engagement. Adelaide Cioni presents a spatial installation designed to be traversed, while Fabrizio Cotognini utilizes painting, sculpture, and drawing to link the exhibition space to themes of memory and myth.

Other featured artists include Veit Stratmann and Catherine Biocca, the latter of whom presents "Tears Don’t Fall," an installation utilizing sound and vulnerability within the halls of Palazzo Buonaccorsi. The exhibition also references historical figures like Giuseppe Ghezzi to trace the origins of the modern exhibition concept.
