Macerata medical service shortage sparks local political concern

The Democratic Party (PD) in Macerata has raised concerns regarding the absence of the 'guardia medica' (out-of-hours medical service) this past Sunday. The service was inactive from 9:00 to 20:00, a situation the party claims increases pressure on the local hospital's emergency room.

Local officials have noted that while the shortage stems from a broader lack of doctors in the healthcare system, the absence of essential services is particularly critical during periods of high temperatures, which pose risks to the elderly and vulnerable populations. The PD has called upon the mayor to intervene with the local health authority (AST) to ensure service continuity and provide better information to citizens.
