Macerata opposition criticizes public bus service cuts

Michele Lattanzi, a city councilor for the opposition group L’altra Macerata, has criticized the local administration in Macerata for reducing public bus services while introducing a new shuttle service.

To compensate for the closure of two elevators, the city has activated free shuttles running from Giardini Diaz to the historic center. However, Lattanzi reports that five scheduled trips across three urban lines—Line 2, Line 6, and Line 7/10—have been suppressed. Specifically, the cuts affect the 16:00 and 18:00 slots for Line 6, the 19:35 slot for Line 2, and the 15:10 and 18:00 slots for Line 7/10.

The councilor stated that these cuts cause significant hardship for students and the elderly, particularly in densely populated areas such as Rione Marche, il Convitto, le Vergini, Piediripa, and Sforzacosta. He has called on the mayor to restore the original bus schedules immediately rather than waiting for the elevator maintenance to conclude.
