Machaba Safaris and Lotsane Safaris promote community development in Botswana

Machaba Safaris is working to integrate rural producers into the tourism supply chain as commercial partners rather than charity recipients. During Botswana Sustainability Week, Chief Operations Officer David Kind explained that the company aims to help small local enterprises meet the operational standards required to supply established lodges. Kind noted that while sourcing from large suppliers in Gaborone or Johannesburg is often easier, Machaba Safaris is investing time and management expertise into capacity-building and training for local suppliers to create sustainable economic benefits.

In the Bobirwa region, Lotsane Safaris has announced several community support initiatives. The company has contributed P25,000 and four impalas to support the Motlhabaneng Cultural Heritage Event scheduled for October 2026. Additionally, Lotsane Safaris has funded the installation of two Starlink satellite internet systems at Lenswe le Moriti Community School and Semolale Junior School to improve digital access and educational resources in the region.
