Machida Zelvia defeats Kyoto Sanga 1-0 to rise to second in J1 League
Machida Zelvia secured a 1-0 away victory against Kyoto Sanga FC in the ninth round of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League at Sanga Stadium. The decisive goal came in the 86th minute when midfielder Takahiro Akemoto struck a powerful shot following a set-piece sequence.
The winning play originated from a header by Koki Ogawa, who managed to create a rebound after his initial shot was deflected. Ogawa, a recent addition to Machida from NEC, expressed satisfaction with his ability to contribute to the scoring process, even without scoring himself. Japan national team manager Hajime Moriyasu was in attendance to observe the match and noted Ogawa's dedication to both offensive and defensive roles.
With this win, Machida moves up to second place in the league standings. While the team experimented with different player rotations during the match, the result provided a significant boost to their position as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
