Maciej Berek prepared for alternative oath to join Constitutional Tribunal

Maciej Berek, elected by the Sejm as a judge for the Constitutional Tribunal, has expressed readiness to take his judicial oath through alternative methods if the traditional ceremony at the Presidential Palace does not occur. Berek stated that while the ideal solution is to swear in before the President, he is prepared to perform the oath in the Sejm, at the headquarters of the National Council of the Judiciary, or even before a notary.

The standoff follows doubts raised by the President's office regarding Berek's formal qualifications, specifically concerning his professional experience as a legal counsel. Berek has rejected these claims, asserting that all required documentation has been submitted.

Berek also revealed that he and eight other judges elected by the current parliamentary majority have developed a plan to restore the functional operations of the Constitutional Tribunal. This plan aims to utilize existing regulations, including those passed during the previous term, to resolve the ongoing institutional conflict.
