Macinare Cultura festival promotes historical mill heritage in Italy

The Macinare Cultura festival is hosting various cultural initiatives across Italy to celebrate and preserve historical mill heritage.

In Lamezia Terme, the Antico Mulino delle Fate will host events from October 31 to November 7. The program includes nature immersion activities in the Bosco delle Fate, a themed event for children titled “Dolcetto-Scherzetto tra Fate e Folletti,” and a large cultural celebration on November 1 featuring sensory paths, artistic experiences, and guided tours of the mill and forest.

In Casola Valsenio, Emilia-Romagna, the festival continues with a dedicated evening on November 4 at the Biblioteca comunale. The event, titled “Dove l’acqua ritrova la parola,” will feature local historians Pier Giacomo Rinaldi Ceroni and Gianni Poletti. They will discuss the history and future of local mills, specifically focusing on the Mulino San Lorenzo. This initiative is part of a broader regional effort by Emilia-Romagna to census and catalog over 300 historical mills to preserve their economic and cultural legacy.
