Gillian Robertson rejects Din Thomas apology over UFC 330 comments

UFC fighter Gillian Robertson has rejected an apology from her longtime coach, Din Thomas, following a controversial incident at UFC 330. During the post-fight broadcast after Robertson lost her strawweight title bout to Mackenzie Dern, Thomas announced his retirement from cornering fighters and suggested that Robertson had reached her professional ceiling.

Thomas later issued an apology on his “Deep Waters” podcast, calling his timing “despicable” and admitting he “selfishly stole her moment.” However, Robertson informed Ariel Helwani that she views the apology as insincere. She claimed that Thomas privately told her team that his public comments were made “more so for TV purposes and ratings.”

The incident drew significant criticism from the MMA community, including UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland, who criticized Thomas's coaching and conduct. Robertson stated she does not wish to engage in further conversation regarding the matter and intends to focus on her recovery and return to training.
