Macklemore announces ‘Free Palestine Tour’ following Ed Sheeran controversy
American rapper Macklemore, born Benjamin Haggerty, has announced the ‘Free Palestine Tour’ following his removal from Ed Sheeran’s US tour. The removal occurred after Macklemore made pro-Palestinian statements while performing on stage.
The upcoming tour will focus on humanitarian aid, with all proceeds being donated to various organizations supporting the Palestinian people and movement, including UNRWA USA, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and the Palestinian Youth Movement. Macklemore also indicated he would donate his $1 million salary from the previous tour.
The initial European dates are scheduled for October 2026, with performances at the 3Arena in Dublin on October 26, the Accor Arena in Paris on October 29, and the OVO Arena Wembley in London on October 30. Macklemore stated that artists should use their platforms for more than just entertainment, noting that ‘being apolitical during a genocide doesn’t work anymore.’
