Macklemore returns to stage with Free Palestine Tour
American rapper Macklemore has performed his first concert since being removed from Ed Sheeran’s ‘Loop Tour’ following his pro-Palestinian statements. Performing at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the artist addressed the crowd regarding humanitarian crises in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Lebanon, and Haiti, while also criticizing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Macklemore’s removal from the Sheeran tour occurred after performances at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he performed the protest song ‘Hind’s Hall’. Reports indicate that stadium owners, including New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, pressured organizers to remove the rapper from the lineup. In response, several other artists withdrew from the tour in solidarity.
The rapper has launched the ‘Free Palestine Tour’, with proceeds benefiting humanitarian organizations. Upcoming dates in Dublin, Paris, and London have already sold out. Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, fifty peers have urged the Home Secretary to cancel Macklemore’s electronic travel authorization ahead of his Wembley Arena performance, citing concerns over the organizations receiving tour proceeds.
