Macklemore removed from Ed Sheeran tour over pro-Palestinian remarks
Macklemore has been removed from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following pro-Palestinian remarks made during performances at MetLife Stadium. The rapper used the stage to call for a ‘Free Palestine’ and performed his protest song ‘Hind’s Hall’.
Promoter Messina Touring Group stated that multiple venues refused to host upcoming shows if Macklemore remained on the lineup, citing the potential for tour cancellation. Robert Kraft, owner of the Kraft Group and Gillette Stadium, confirmed that the stadium would not host the rapper, citing a ‘broader history of antisemitic rhetoric and imagery’ that he claimed was offensive to the Jewish community. Macklemore has denied these allegations, maintaining his stance on Palestinian rights.
In response to Macklemore’s removal, several other opening acts—including Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Beoga, and Lukas Graham—have withdrawn from the tour in solidarity. Ed Sheeran released a statement clarifying that the decision to remove Macklemore was made by the tour promoter and venues rather than himself, noting his desire to avoid using his professional platform for politics.
