Macklin Celebrini signs $94 million contract with San Jose Sharks

San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini has signed a five-year, $94 million contract that will take effect in the fall of 2027. Following a season where he recorded 115 points, Celebrini is set to become one of the highest-paid players in the NHL.

Celebrini stated that he intentionally left money on the table during negotiations to ensure the contract was reasonable from the team's perspective. He expressed a desire to help the Sharks maintain flexibility under the NHL salary cap to build a competitive roster.

In addition to his contract, Celebrini has been discussed as a potential candidate for the Sharks' captaincy. Having served as an alternate captain for San Jose and captain for Canada during the World Championships, he noted that while he is ready for the role, the final decision rests with General Manager Mike Grier.
