MacLean Power Systems to acquire Delta Star
MacLean Power Systems (MPS) has signed definitive agreements to acquire Delta Star, Inc., a North American provider of power transformers and mobile substation solutions. The acquisition aims to expand MPS’s portfolio to include engineered components for electric transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure.
Delta Star, headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia, employs over 1,400 people across the United States and Canada. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Virginia, California, and Quebec. The deal comes during a period of what company leadership describes as “unprecedented” and “explosive” demand for electrical grid infrastructure to support data centers, industrial needs, and renewable energy.
Financial sponsors for MPS, including funds affiliated with Blackstone Energy Transition Partners, Blackstone Capital Partners, and Centerbridge Partners, are expected to make substantial additional investments to fund the transaction. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter. A spokesperson for Delta Star stated that the announcement “does not include staffing changes.”
