Macomb County identifies noncitizens on voter rolls
Macomb County officials have identified additional noncitizens on voter rolls following a review of jury duty summons. During the third quarter of 2026, 236 individuals who self-reported as noncitizens were summoned for jury duty in the county. Of those individuals, nine were registered to vote and one had a recorded voting history.
Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini stated that the issue should not be treated as a partisan matter and has forwarded the information to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office. Forlini noted that many county clerks may lack the resources to conduct such reviews, suggesting the issue could be more widespread in Oakland and Wayne counties.
This discovery occurs amid a highly competitive U.S. Senate race in Michigan between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed. Previously, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office announced charges against five noncitizens for voting in the 2024 election.
