Macon authorities investigate death of 4-year-old girl found in water-filled trash can

Authorities in Macon, Georgia, are investigating the death of 4-year-old Jayde Wooten, who was found unresponsive in a water-filled trash can containing fish. The incident occurred on September 19 at a residence on the 1200 block of Rocky Creek Road.

According to incident reports, the child's father arrived home and discovered she was missing from her bedroom. After hearing a scream from the child's mother, he found Jayde upside down in a large bathroom container filled with water and fish. Family members and neighbors attempted to perform CPR before emergency responders arrived. Jayde was transported to a medical facility where she was pronounced dead.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Macon-Bibb County Coroner’s Office are conducting an investigation. While an autopsy has been performed, the official cause and manner of death remain pending. No arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
