macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces background task indicators and tool support

The upcoming macOS 27 Golden Gate release introduces new features and utility support. The macUSB 2.4 tool has launched, providing expanded compatibility for macOS 27 Golden Gate and various legacy Windows environments, including Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 R2. The tool assists in creating bootable installation media and can detect beta installers directly from Apple's servers.

In terms of system functionality, macOS 27 addresses how background processes are managed and displayed. Within the developer beta, the system now distinguishes between active applications and those running tasks in the background via the Dock. A light gray dot will appear under Dock icons for apps running background processes, whereas active applications retain a black dot. Users can now terminate these background tasks directly via a right-click on the Dock icon or manage permissions through the 'Login Items' section in System Settings.
