macOS 27 Golden Gate introduces new features and software conflicts

The release of macOS 27 Golden Gate has introduced both new user capabilities and specific software compatibility issues.

Apple has implemented a feature allowing users to paste images and text directly from the clipboard into Finder, a function previously limited to iOS and iPadOS. Copied images are saved as TIFF, PNG, or JPEG files, while text is saved as “.textClipping” files.

However, PFU has reported that ScanSnap Home software is experiencing processing failures on Apple silicon Macs running macOS 27 Golden Gate. Users have reported freezes during post-scan image processing and difficulties using the review and correction windows on ScanSnap SV600 overhead scanners. PFU has released version 4.0.1 as a beta download to provide a provisional workaround while a permanent fix is developed.
