Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro series alongside iOS 27, introducing significant hardware and software advancements focused on photography and artificial intelligence.

The iPhone 18 Pro features a major hardware upgrade with a mechanical variable aperture on its 48MP Fusion main camera, allowing for four distinct settings ranging from f/1.48 to f/4. This provides users with professional-grade control over light and depth of field. Additional hardware improvements include the A20 Pro chip, a smaller Dynamic Island, and increased battery life.

Software updates in iOS 27 center on Apple Intelligence. A new Siri mode integrated directly into the Camera app uses Visual Intelligence to identify objects, read text, and provide real-world information. The Shortcuts app can now generate daily information summaries using natural language prompts. Furthermore, a new Spatial Reframing feature allows users to adjust the perspective and angle of photos after they have been captured by utilizing cloud-based generative AI.
