Coalition of the Willing to hold military exercises in autumn
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that the ‘Coalition of the Willing’ will conduct large-scale joint military exercises in October and November. The maneuvers are intended to test the operational readiness of participating nations and demonstrate their capacity to act once hostilities in Ukraine cease, thereby strengthening security guarantees for Kyiv.
While the coalition aims to bolster defense and exhaust Russian resources, Italy has officially declined to participate in the military exercises. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reiterated her government's stance against deploying Italian troops to Ukrainian territory. However, Italy remains committed to supporting Ukraine through humanitarian and non-combat means, including a new aid package focused on hospitals, schools, energy infrastructure, and the provision of generators to ensure power grid stability.
