MADA accelerates fertilizer distribution amid supply shortages

The Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) is intensifying monitoring and coordination to accelerate the distribution of 'Baja Padi 3' compound fertilizer to approximately 38,000 paddy farmers in the Muda region. While distribution began on June 11, supply shortages have hindered progress. To date, only 137,560 bags (22%) of the required 616,015 bags have been received, leaving a deficit of 478,455 bags needed for 78,117 hectares of crops.

MADA stated it is acting according to contract terms to restore supplies and ensure gradual distribution to farmers. The shortage has raised concerns regarding potential impacts on rice yields for the current season.

In a separate clarification, the National Farmers Organization (NAFAS) reported that it has fully completed the supply of 8,275 metric tons of urea fertilizer to the MADA area ahead of schedule. NAFAS emphasized that the 'Baja Padi 3' compound fertilizer issues are not managed or implemented by NAFAS or its subsidiary, Malaysian NPK Fertilizer Sdn Bhd (MNFSB), and therefore fall outside their contractual scope and responsibility.
