Madagascar airport infrastructure and tourism update
Ravinala Airports has launched a call for expressions of interest to develop new cargo terminals at Antananarivo International Airport and Nosy Be International Airport in Madagascar. Using a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, selected partners will be responsible for financing, constructing, operating, and maintaining the facilities before transferring them to the authorities.
The proposed Antananarivo terminal is expected to cover 13,000m², with a target capacity of 110,000 tonnes of cargo annually by 2044. The Nosy Be facility is planned to cover between 1,000m² and 2,000m². These infrastructure projects aim to modernize airport capabilities and support growing air traffic.
In parallel, Madagascar’s tourism sector reported a slight increase in foreign arrivals during the first half of 2026. The country welcomed 151,532 foreign visitors, a 0.51% increase compared to the same period in 2025. The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts has set an annual target of 400,000 visitors, requiring an acceleration in arrivals during the second half of the year.
