Madagascar and Côte d'Ivoire implement agricultural and social development programs

In Madagascar, the government and Japan, through JICA, have signed a Record of Discussion for the PAPRIZ 4 project. This initiative aims to modernize the entire rice value chain, from production to commercialization.

Additionally, a joint report by WHO and UNICEF indicates that Madagascar ranks third globally in terms of hygiene difficulties in healthcare facilities, with 46% of establishments lacking any hygiene services. In Toamasina, a fire at the Bazar Kely market resulted in one fatality.

In Côte d'Ivoire, the Government Social Program Support Project (PA-PSGouv) has reported significant progress in economic empowerment. As of June 2026, over 16,000 young people have been placed in internships. The project has also supported 3,258 producers with inputs and equipment, exceeding initial targets.

Agricultural achievements include the cultivation of 18,919 hectares of cassava, generating substantial revenue through local transformation and sales. The project also emphasizes rural women's empowerment through poultry and fish farming initiatives across several regions.
