Madagascar CENI Opens Voter Registration List Ahead of Upcoming Election

On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, the Commission Electorale Nationale Indépendante (CENI) officially opened voter registration in the Analamanga region of Madagascar. CENI Chairman Thierry Rakotonarivo, accompanied by First Vice‑Chair Mamy Rabetokotany, oversaw the ceremony attended by district leaders, mayors and other election officials.

Rakotonarivo stressed that the registration period, which runs until 25 November 2026, is critical for ensuring a clean and complete voter list. He outlined five methods for citizens to register: visiting their fokontany, household canvassing by CLRE teams, submitting written requests, attending designated meeting points, or registering at district offices for first‑time voters. Eligibility criteria include Malagasy citizenship, age 18 or older, possession of a national ID card, no criminal convictions and confirmed residence in the local fokontany. The CENI urged all eligible voters to register immediately to participate fully in the forthcoming election or referendum.
