Madagascar launches Anosizato flyover to ease Antananarivo traffic

The official launch ceremony for the Anosizato flyover was held on Friday in Anosizato, attended by Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, the president of the Refondation, the prime minister, and other senior government and military officials. The project, located at the junction of RN1 and RN58A on the western side of Antananarivo, is intended to alleviate chronic congestion, shorten travel times and improve road safety.

Financed mainly by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) with a US$25.2 million loan and a US$2.8 million contribution from the Malagasy state, the construction contract was awarded to China Geo‑Engineering Corporation. Work is planned over roughly 24 months in two phases: a new bridge and the flyover structure, followed by widening RN1 to a 2×2‑lane carriageway for about 1.8 km and upgrading RN58A for 8.5 km. Authorities expect the project to generate around 500 direct and indirect jobs and to boost economic activity in the capital’s western suburbs.
