Madagascar nun visits Fulda Diocese for World Mission Sunday

Sister Béatrice Rasonhamtaryirima, a Vincentian nun from the Diocese of Tolanaro in southern Madagascar, is visiting the Diocese of Fulda in Germany as part of the preparations for World Mission Sunday. This annual Catholic solidarity event will be celebrated in Germany on October 25, with Madagascar serving as the central focus this year.

Sister Béatrice leads a community of six religious sisters in Madagascar, where they operate a school and provide medical services, including outpatient care and support at a tuberculosis center. The community also distributes food to approximately 300 women and children living in extreme poverty.

During her visit to Fulda, accompanied by missio representative Silvia Köhler, Sister Béatrice will participate in various programs, including recording a podcast and visiting local institutions such as the Caritas nursing school. The initiative aims to raise awareness regarding the interconnected social, ecological, and economic challenges in Madagascar, including drought, poverty, and limited access to healthcare and education.
