Madam Orange to release debut album Parallax

Chicago-based avant drone/jazz duo Madam Orange will release their debut album, Parallax, this Friday via the Amalgam label. The project features musicians Emily Rach Beisel, performing bass clarinet and electronics, and Bill Harris, performing drums and electronics.

The album consists of eleven movements that blend heavy improvisation, rhythmic interlock, and electronic manipulation. The duo’s sound moves between aggressive intensity and sensitive textures, utilizing acoustic instruments extended through electronic effects.

Parts of the album were recorded live at the Hungry Brain, with the remainder recorded at Marmalade. Bill Harris, who also operates the Amalgam label, recorded the project. The cover art was created by Beisel and Harris, and the audio was mixed by the duo before being mastered by Edward Hamel.
