Madama Butterfly to be performed in Pozzuolo del Friuli

The Operaprima-Wien production of Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, Madama Butterfly, will be performed at Villa Gradenigo Sabbatini in Pozzuolo del Friuli. The performances are scheduled for August 28, August 30, and September 1 at 8:00 PM.

Directed by Maestro Tiziano Duca, the production features Yitian Luan as Cio-Cio-San and Gustavo Porta as Pinkerton. This initiative is part of the Puccini Project 2026, which aims to bring opera out of traditional theaters and into the community. The project also includes educational components for young people through the “Cantieri Aperti” program and a related exhibition titled “La musica di Puccini e l’incontro incompatibile fra due mondi.”

This year’s event holds additional significance as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Friuli earthquake. In addition to the main performances, a free lyric-choral concert will take place on August 29 at Spazio Villalta in Udine.
