Madame Devi fined 200,000 yen for assault in Tokyo

Ratna Sari Devi Scarnno, known as Devi夫人 (Madame Devi), has been ordered to pay a fine of 200,000 yen by the Tokyo District Court following convictions for two counts of assault. The court issued the sentence in line with the prosecution's request.

The charges stem from two incidents: in February 2023, the defendant allegedly threw a champagne glass and other items at a former secretary at a restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo. In October 2023, she was accused of punching and kicking a former manager at an animal hospital. While the defendant had previously claimed her memory was vague or denied certain specific actions, the court recognized the assaults against both victims, noting that the defendant's statements lacked credibility.

Following the verdict, Devi Scarnno appeared visibly unsettled and was observed repeatedly attempting to speak urgently to her lawyer. When asked whether she intended to appeal the decision, her legal counsel stated, “No comment.”
