Madani International Film Festival 2026 held in Jakarta

The Madani International Film Festival 2026 is being held in Jakarta from October 7 to 11. This year, the festival adopts the theme ‘Rhizome: Spreading, Healing,’ which serves as a metaphor for non-linear knowledge and the interconnectedness of Southeast Asian cinema, indie films, and community collaborations.

A notable component of the event is the ‘Bad Film Festival Compilation’ (Festival Film Jelek), held at Taman Ismail Marzuki. Founded by Juan Hendry, this specific program provides a platform for filmmakers whose works may lack technical perfection or have struggled to find distribution due to industry standards. The initiative aims to encourage creators to share their work and connect with audiences, valuing passion and honesty over high-budget technical resources.
