Maddalena Spanu wins silver at Formula Wing World Championship

Italian sailor Maddalena Spanu has secured the silver medal at the Formula Wing World Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey. Spanu, an athlete from the Young Azzurra program and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, finished second in a competition featuring 24 participants.

The championship concluded with a high-intensity Grand Final held in strong wind conditions, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots. While Spanu maintained a strong position throughout the week, including four victories out of five races on the third day, French athlete Vaïna Picot ultimately took the world title. Kylie Belloeuvre, also from France, earned the bronze medal.

Following the event, Spanu expressed satisfaction with her performance and noted the increasing level of competition within the discipline. Although her primary goal was to defend her world title from the previous year, she described the result as a significant milestone and a motivation for future objectives.
