Made in Korea Season 2 to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu

The Disney+ and Hulu original political thriller ‘Made in Korea’ is set to release its second season on September 9. The production, which has a reported combined budget of approximately KRW 70 billion ($51 million) across two seasons, is one of the most expensive K-dramas ever produced.

Set nine years after the events of the first season, the new installment follows the protagonist Baek Gi-tae, played by Hyun Bin, as he navigates a period of intense political upheaval in South Korea. The narrative explores his escalating ambitions and the personal toll of his rise to power, specifically highlighting a growing conflict with his brother, Baek Gi-hyun, portrayed by Woo Do-hwan.

During a production presentation in Seoul, cast members including Jung Woo-sung and Seo Eun-su discussed their roles. Jung noted that while the series shares a historical timeline with his previous work ‘12.12: The Day’, ‘Made in Korea’ focuses more on human nature and character empathy. Seo Eun-su shared that she adjusted her physical appearance to better portray a determined prosecutor.
