Made-in-Nigeria Project Office holds fair amid ICPC investigation

The National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office held a National Products Fair at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia, Abia State, from September 21 to 25, 2026. The event aimed to showcase Nigerian innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship while supporting local industries.

This exhibition occurred despite an ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The ICPC has alleged that the project office is an unauthorized government outfit operating without presidential approval. The agency reportedly occupied space within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) without authorization.

Following these findings, President Bola Tinubu reportedly ordered the immediate arrest of the project’s promoter, George Buchi Nwabueze, and the suspension of three permanent secretaries. While the ICPC continues its probe, the project office has denied allegations of being a fake agency, citing specific Executive Orders to defend its status and filing a suit for a status quo order.
