Madeira Central and University Hospital construction receives three bids

Three competing bids have been submitted for the third phase of the construction of the Madeira Central and University Hospital. The phase, which covers general infrastructure, finishes, and technical installations, saw proposals ranging from approximately 354 million euros to 408.5 million euros.

The competing groups include a consortium led by Mota-Engil, a group involving Tecnovia Madeira and Afavias, and a consortium led by Teixeira Duarte. All submitted bids fell below the established base price of 415 million euros. Manuel Maria Teixeira Duarte, chairman of Teixeira Duarte, noted that their proposal reflects operational optimization and a commitment to the Madeira Autonomous Region.

The Regional Government will now begin the evaluation process. Following contract formalization and oversight by the Court of Auditors, work is expected to commence in early 2027, with the project's completion targeted for the end of 2030. This infrastructure project is intended to modernize regional hospital facilities and strengthen the Regional Health Service.
