Madeira heat warning extended through Friday
Portugal's Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has prolonged the yellow heat warning for the Autonomous Region of Madeira until 18:00 UTC on Friday (19:00 local time). The alert now covers all meteorological zones of the archipelago—including the north and south coasts, the mountainous interior of Madeira Island and Porto Santo—and remains in force because maximum temperatures continue to be unusually high.
The yellow level is the least severe on IPMA's warning scale but still signals a risk to activities that depend on weather conditions and advises the public to monitor forecasts and take precautionary measures against the heat.
