Madeira heat warning extended to Wednesday

Portugal’s Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has prolonged the yellow heat alert for the southern coast and mountainous areas of Madeira. The warning now remains in force until 19:00 on Wednesday, 5 August, as maximum temperatures continue to stay unusually high.

Authorities advise residents and visitors to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and follow any local guidance to mitigate the health risks associated with the heat.
