Madeira International Airport flight cancellations due to strong winds
Strong winds caused the cancellation of at least 11 flights at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday. The disruptions included six arrivals and five departures.
Several aircraft were unable to land on the Santa Catarina runway due to adverse weather. Specifically, an Enter Air flight from Warsaw was diverted to Porto Santo, while easyJet and Ryanair flights from Porto and Brussels were diverted to Porto. Other affected services included flights from Frankfurt, Lisbon, and London Gatwick.
According to data from the IPMA meteorological station network, maximum wind gusts reached 76 km/h from the north. Average wind speeds were recorded at approximately 45 km/h, with gusts of 72 km/h from the northeast also noted.
