Madeira International Ship Register opens new office in Hamburg

The Madeira International Ship Register (MAR) has expanded its presence in the German maritime market with the opening of a new European MAR office in Hamburg. The inauguration, held on September 17, aimed to strengthen connections between the registry and one of Europe’s most significant maritime communities.

Rogério Gouveia, Chairman of the Board of the Madeira Development Society (SDM), noted that the new facilities will deepen the partnership between European MAR and SDM, which began in 2013. The office is intended to bring the Madeiran registry closer to German shipowners and key maritime industry agents, providing better access to services and expertise.

Hamburg was selected due to its status as a major global maritime transport center with a high concentration of international shipping companies and operators. The initiative is expected to enhance the global visibility of the Portuguese flag and the Madeira International Ship Register.
