Rally Madeira 2024: João Rodrigues clinches 2RM title as Meeke tops stage, post‑race dispute
Portuguese Rally Championship 2RM class was won by João Rodrigues (Peugeot 208 Rally4) at the Rali da Madeira, leading from the first special stage and finishing 18.5 seconds ahead of Pedro Câmara, with Hélder Miranda third.
British driver Kris Meeke recorded the fastest time on the Ponta do Sol stage, completing the 10.95‑km run in 7:03.0 minutes and reinforcing his position as the quickest on the road for the day. Miguel Nunes retained the overall rally lead after the stage, while João Silva moved into second place overall and Armando Araújo held third.
After the competition, João Silva rejected accusations from Miguel Nunes that members of his team had thrown objects at Nunes' car, stating, "Repudio por completo. Nenhum elemento da minha equipa teria uma conduta anti‑desportiva como essa." He also said he attempted to greet Nunes, who did not respond, adding, "É um excelente piloto, mas nada mais."
