Madeira to receive six natural gas cisterns following strike agreement

Six natural gas cisterns loaded at the Sines liquefied natural gas terminal are scheduled to arrive in Madeira this Thursday. The shipment was secured following an agreement reached during a strike by REN Atlântico workers.

The strike, organized by the SITE Sul and Fiequimetal unions, was related to demands for a pre-retirement regime to compensate for the physical toll of shift work. The regional government expressed satisfaction with the understanding reached, which ensures the energy supply needs of the region are met and avoids potential constraints for families, businesses, and public services.

The vessel is expected to discharge nine gas tank containers at the Port of Caniçal, as three had been loaded prior to the strike's commencement on Sunday. This follows a previous delivery of 28 cisterns that arrived in Madeira on Sunday, having departed from Lisbon on Saturday.
