Madeira tops Portugal's market for homes sold in under a week
An analysis by the real‑estate marketplace Idealista shows that 15% of homes listed for sale in Portugal's Madeira region disappear from listings within seven days, the highest speed of sale in the country and equal to the rate in the Porto district. Nationwide, about 10% of properties are withdrawn from the market in less than a week.
Among district capitals, Aveiro, Coimbra and Porto lead with 11% of homes sold in under seven days, followed by Braga (10%) and Funchal, the capital of Madeira, at 9%. Other cities such as Beja, Faro, Leiria and Viana do Castelo record 8% rapid sales. The study also notes that 18% of listings vanish between one week and one month, 31% between one and three months, 35% between three months and a year, and 6% remain on the market for more than a year.
These figures highlight strong demand and limited supply in Portugal’s housing market, especially in Madeira and the Porto area, where the quick turnover puts pressure on prices and availability.
