Madeleine Carlisle joins The Atlantic following '60 Minutes' departure

Madeleine Carlisle, a former associate producer at '60 Minutes,' has joined The Atlantic as a staff writer. Carlisle, who previously served as an editorial fellow at the magazine, joins alongside new hire Danyel Smith.

Carlisle's departure from CBS comes amid significant leadership and personnel changes at '60 Minutes' under CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. The program has seen the exit of several high-profile figures, including executive editor Draggan Mihailovich and correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi. Additionally, veteran correspondent Scott Pelley was dismissed following disagreements regarding the program's direction.

To stabilize the program ahead of its 59th season, CBS has appointed Nick Bilton as the new executive producer and recently announced hires including Ross Douthat and Sir Trevor Phillips.
