Madhav Tiger Reserve tiger population rises to 11
The tiger population in Madhya Pradesh’s Madhav Tiger Reserve has increased to 11 following the birth of two cubs to tigress MT3. This marks the third recorded birth since the tiger reintroduction program commenced on March 10, 2023.
MT3 has now given birth twice; her previous two cubs, one male and one female, are approximately 28 months old. With these new additions, the number of tigers born within the reserve has reached six. Currently, there are two breeding-age tigresses in the reserve.
Officials attribute this success to the continuous efforts of forest field staff, veterinary teams, and reserve management in creating a suitable wildlife habitat and maintaining conservation programs to develop a sustainable tiger population.
