Madhya Pradesh arrests in Looteri Dulhan fake bride scam

Madhya Pradesh police uncovered an inter‑state gang that used a fake bride to defraud unmarried men. The scheme involved a woman posing as a bride, later identified as Rukmani Chaturvedi, who was already married and fled with cash and jewellery after the ceremony.

Following a complaint by Surendra Singh Rajput, who had paid 1 lakh rupees for the marriage, police arrested four suspects: Rukmani Chaturvedi, Arvind Vibhakar, Sonu Ahirwar and another accomplice from Damoh. A special team led by SP Nivedita Naidu seized a car, three mobile phones and about 5.25 lakh rupees in cash. One gang member remains at large while investigations continue into similar incidents across the state.
