Mohan Yadav inaugurates Rs 2,388-crore irrigation project in Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has inaugurated a Rs 2,387.60-crore micro-lift irrigation project in the Dhar district. The Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur project utilizes an underground pipeline network to supply water from the Narmada River to the Mahi River, covering 57,422 hectares of farmland across 260 villages in the Dhar and Jhabua districts.
The project is designed to benefit approximately 72,000 farmers by providing pressurized water, which facilitates the use of sprinkler and drip irrigation methods. This system is expected to reduce water consumption and eliminate the need for field leveling. The initiative involves lifting 186.62 million cubic meters of water and requires 102.30 megawatts of electricity.
During the inauguration, the Chief Minister also transferred Rs 317.86 crore in crop insurance claims for the 2025-26 rabi season to the bank accounts of 1.67 million farmers. Yadav noted that the state government aims to bring 100 lakh hectares of agricultural land under irrigation, having already increased coverage from 7.5 lakh hectares in 2002-03 to 60 lakh hectares in the last two and a half years.
