Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approves Rs 41,000 crore for infrastructure and tourism

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved development projects and welfare measures exceeding Rs 41,000 crore. A major component of this funding is the Rs 29,619 crore ‘Viksit Bharat: VB-G RAM G’ scheme, which is set to replace MANREGA for rural development starting July 1, 2026.

Infrastructure investments include the construction of the 35.61-km Western Bhopal Bypass at a cost of Rs 3,225.51 crore and the 67.116-km Mehlua-Bina-Khimlasa-Malthone road for Rs 2,776.83 crore. Both projects will utilize the Hybrid Annuity Model and feature four lanes with paved shoulders to improve safety.

Additionally, Chief Minister Yadav outlined a strategic vision for religious tourism and heritage preservation during a BJP state working committee meeting in Orchha. Following the economic impact seen in Ujjain via the Shri Mahakal Mahalok, the government is developing the Shri Ram Raja Lok in Orchha. The initiative aims to revitalize historical sites using authentic materials and local artisans to boost pilgrimage and local employment.
