Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has released a female cheetah, CCB-2, into the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Neemuch. Originally brought from Botswana and previously housed in Kuno National Park, the cheetah has been named ‘Radha’ by the Chief Minister.

With Radha’s arrival, the cheetah population in the Gandhi Sagar sanctuary has increased to four, consisting of two males and two females. This move is part of the broader Project Cheetah initiative, which aims to expand cheetah conservation and reintroduction efforts across different protected areas in India.

Chief Minister Yadav described the initiative as a historic project for Asia, noting that cheetahs had previously vanished from the continent. He credited the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the state's ability to undertake this conservation task. Currently, the total number of cheetahs in Madhya Pradesh, including cubs, has reached 56.
