Madhya Pradesh Congress chief seeks central intervention over liquor deaths
Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah requesting central intervention following a series of deaths linked to spurious liquor in the state. Patwari called for an independent investigation into recurring hooch tragedies and urged coordinated action against interstate illicit liquor networks.
In his letter, Patwari accused the Mohan Yadav-led BJP government of administrative failure and negligence. He cited several past incidents, including 20 deaths in Sagar in September 2026 and recent reports from Chandana and Bisakhana villages in Dewas district. The Congress leader demanded accountability for officials and compensation for the families of victims, alleging that the state’s administrative system has collapsed.
