Madhya Pradesh Congress demands direct student union elections
Political tensions are rising in Madhya Pradesh regarding the upcoming student union elections, which are being prepared for the first time in approximately nine years following a High Court order.
The Madhya Pradesh Congress and its student wing, NSUI, are demanding that the elections be conducted through a direct voting system. State Congress President Jitu Patwari stated that if the elections are not held via a direct system, the party, along with Youth Congress and NSUI, will launch protests across all universities and colleges in the state. The Congress party argues that direct elections will allow students to effectively voice concerns regarding fees, facilities, examinations, and hostels.
In response, Madhya Pradesh BJP President Hemant Khandelwal stated that the government is proceeding in accordance with the court's decision regarding the election process.
