Madhya Pradesh Congress dissolves all state units, eyes reorganization

The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Indian National Congress announced the immediate dissolution of all its departments, cells and sub‑units. The move follows directives from the All India Congress Committee and is presented as a step to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 state assembly elections. Party state in‑charge Harish Choudhary said the restructuring aims to address perceived organisational weaknesses and improve performance in upcoming local elections. BJP spokesperson Ajay Yadav criticised the decision, claiming the Congress has lost confidence in its own structure.

A Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting is scheduled for 11 August in Bhopal. Senior leaders, including media in‑charge Mukesh Nayak, will discuss ways to reinforce the party’s grassroots network, formulate opposition strategies against the ruling BJP, and plan upcoming political programmes. The meeting will also allocate new responsibilities to district and constituency officials as part of the broader reorganisation effort.
